Hey Everyone!
For about the last year, we have been taking a pretty big
loss on shipping due to the UPS "fuel surcharge" that is
added onto every order we ship. There is simply no way
around this charge with the current gasoline and diesel
fuel prices. We hate this, but it is a fact we now need to
deal with. Let me give you a bit of an example. For each
box delivered to a residential area, not in a big city,
there is approximately $3.50 surcharge. If you live in a
big city, the surcharge is still about $1.75.
Some of you will notice, we have had to have a slight price
increase on our products. That is also the Incoming Fuel
Surcharge we have been paying on everything from wicks to
jars to wax and fragrance oils.
But we think we came up with a plan that will make it fair
to everyone! Since we raised prices a bit, shipping is
only $1.99 per order, any quantity. That's right, order 50
candles, pay only $1.99 in shipping. Not EACH, Only $1.99
total! You are asking yourselves "how is lowering
shipping, saving them money?" Simple, by eliminating that
huge shipping estimator from UPS, customers are likely to
buy more items at a time. Well, if they buy 5 candles, our
shipping costs don't increase 5 times. You save money, we
make a little money. UPS doesn't get too much from both of
us.
We haven't had any sort of price increase, not one penny,
for 3 years. We certainly hope this doesn't discourage any
of our wonderful customers from coming to see us, but it
also doesn't make sense for us to lose money on each and
every candle sale. Can't stay in business very long that
way and we plan on being here for decades and decades.
If, for some wonderful reason, UPS drops the fuel surcharge
for us, we will absolutely drop it back off for you. Heck,
maybe we can even eliminate shipping costs altogether!
Keep hoping.
We always want to treat our customers like family, and
being upfront and honest is the way we want to treat each
and everyone of you.
On a different note: Check out the body butters, they are
simply wonderful.
As a bit of a sneak preview: We are going to have the
non-aerosol room and linen spray available soon. Maybe by
the end of March!
Another new product (Yep, they keep on comin), Tart Burner
Smelly Melts. Ok, the name is funny, but you are going to
remember it, aren't you!? A lot of our customer have asked
us to make votives and tarts. Soy wax is so soft that it
isn't really feasible to package each individual tart, and
votives aren't a real good idea for soy.
So, our solution: Make tarts in different sizes, sell them
by the 1/4 lb bag. That way, they don't each have to be
packaged, and you can mix and match your own custom scents.
Watch for these on the website. We have about 15 ready so
far, and will be selling them very, very shortly!
